Truthful Birth Company
I’m Verity the owner of The Truthful Birth Company.
I live in Derby. I have 2 children and a dog. I have worked in special needs teaching for 13 years. Through this I have learnt about a wide spectrum of learning and sensory needs. At the heart of my teaching was always ensuring my students had someone advocating for them and ensuring their voice was heard.
I have carried this ethos through to my birth work.
You will always remember the day you give birth so it is important to make sure you are an active part of the process and make your birth your own.
Why I am called The Truthful Birth Company?
Well my name Verity means truth, and I believe that everyone is entitled to truthful, honest antenatal care.
People always get told labour and birth stories from their friends, or what happened to their neighbour or mother. Most of the time these stories aren’t helpful, and can often be frightening, and thus make everyone doubt their own ability.
Providing antenatal education that is balanced and evidence based is that the truthful birth company (TBC) is all about.
Your birth is yours, not your friends, not your mothers and not the doctor or midwives. So you need education that allows you to make your own decision.
My births.
I am often asked about my births and I’m generally very open about my birth stories with my friends and family. I had 2 very contrasting birth experiences and my births are my reason why I became a birth worker.
However my birth stories aren’t important to you and your journey. The decisions I made are mine. Everyone needs to make their own decision about their body and baby.
If you’re still interested I’m sure if we meet up after your birth I will share a story or two with you.
